Why Android TV Is the Most Versatile Platform for Hello Guest Screen
Android TV is not a single device – it is an operating system that runs on dozens of different TV brands, streaming boxes, and media players. This makes it the most versatile platform for Hello Guest Screen: if your property has a Sony TV, a Philips TV, a Hisense TV, an Nvidia Shield, or a Xiaomi Mi Box, you can run Hello Guest Screen natively without buying any additional hardware.
For vacation rental hosts, this versatility is valuable because it means Hello Guest Screen works on whatever TV is already in the property. Unlike Samsung (Tizen only) or Apple TV (tvOS only), Android TV covers a wide range of brands across all price points – from budget TVs in entry-level rentals to premium Sony BRAVIA OLEDs in luxury properties.
Android TV is also the only smart TV platform that gives hosts access to the full Google Play Store – the same ecosystem guests use on their Android phones. Guests feel immediately comfortable with the interface and need no help navigating the TV.
Google TV vs Android TV - What Is the Difference?
Google TV is the updated version of Android TV, launched in 2020 starting with the Chromecast with Google TV. The main difference is the home screen interface – Google TV aggregates content across all streaming apps in one place. For Hello Guest Screen, both work identically. If your device runs either Android TV or Google TV, the app installs and runs the same way.

Select Install on the Hello Guest Screen app page. The app downloads and installs automatically. It will appear on your Android TV home screen when complete. Open Hello Guest Screen to begin setup.
4
Sign In to Your Hello Guest Screen Account

Tip: install the Google TV Remote app on your Android phone and use it as a keyboard – much faster than the on-screen keyboard. 5

In your Hello Guest Screen account settings, connect your booking platform. Supported integrations: Airbnb, VRBO, Guesty, Hostfully, OwnerRez, Booking.com, and any platform with an iCal export link. Guest names, check-in dates, and check-out dates sync automatically once connected.
6
Customize Your Welcome Screen
Add your WiFi name and password, check-out time, property name, logo or host photo, and welcome message. Optionally add a background image, a YouTube ambient video link, and a QR code linking to house rules, local recommendations, or your direct booking page. Preview on the TV before saving.
7
Set Hello Guest Screen to Auto-Launch on TV Power On
Choose one of three methods below based on your device.
Method A - Android TV Settings
Go to Settings, then Device Preferences, then Home. Find the option to set a default launch app or Home app and select Hello Guest Screen. On some devices this appears under Settings, then Apps, then See All Apps, then Hello Guest Screen, then Set as Default.
Method B - Google TV Settings
Go to Settings, then System, then Startup and Reset. Set Hello Guest Screen as the default Home App. The TV will launch it automatically with every power on.
Method C - HDMI-CEC (Works on All Devices)
Enable HDMI-CEC on your TV. The setting name varies by brand: Anynet+ on Samsung, SimpLink on LG, Bravia Sync on Sony, HDMI Control on others. When HDMI-CEC is active and your Android TV device is the active HDMI input, powering on the TV also wakes the Android TV device and the Hello Guest Screen launches automatically.
Nvidia Shield tip - most reliable auto-launch
On Nvidia Shield go to Settings, then Device Preferences, then About, then Startup App and select Hello Guest Screen. The Shield is the most reliable Android TV device for startup app configuration – it launches Hello Guest Screen consistently on every single power on without fail.
Path B — Via Amazon Firestick
