Why Airbnb Hosts Use a Firestick for Their Welcome Screen
The Amazon Firestick is the most popular device among Hello Guest Screen users. Affordable, available everywhere, easy to replace if damaged, and works on any TV with an HDMI port regardless of brand or age.
Works independently of your TV brand
Hosts love the Firestick setup because it works independently of the TV’s own operating system. If you have an LG, Samsung, Hisense, Vizio, or any other brand of TV, a Firestick turns it into a smart display instantly. The Firestick is also affordable at under $25, available everywhere, and easy to replace if ever damaged.
Real Host Review
★★★★★
“I had to use a Firestick with my LG TV but it works great. I had to go to settings to tell LG to turn on to the Firestick and that was it. My guests comment immediately after check-in when they turn on the TV to get the WiFi and see their name.”

Setup Guide
How to Set Up Hello Guest Screen on Your Firestick
Setup takes under 10 minutes. You do not need a developer or any technical knowledge.
1
Plug the Firestick Into Your TV's HDMI Port
Insert your Amazon Firestick into any available HDMI port on your TV. If your TV only has one HDMI port, use an HDMI extender (included in most Firestick boxes). Switch your TV input to the correct HDMI source.
2
Connect the Firestick to Your Property's WiFi
Turn on the Firestick and connect it to your property’s WiFi network. Use your host WiFi (not the guest network) during setup. The Firestick needs a stable internet connection to pull guest reservation data automatically.
3
Open the Amazon App Store and Search for Hello Guest Screen
From the Firestick home screen, go to the search icon and type Hello Guest Screen. You can also say “Hello Guest Screen” into the Alexa voice remote. Select the Hello Guest Screen app from the results and click Download.
4
Sign In to Your Hello Guest Screen Account
Open the Hello Guest Screen app on the Firestick. Sign in with the email and password you created when you signed up at helloguestscreen.com. If you do not have an account yet, create one free — no credit card required to start.
5
Connect Your Booking Calendar
In your Hello Guest Screen dashboard, go to Settings and connect your booking platform. HGS integrates with Airbnb, VRBO, Guesty, Hostfully, OwnerRez, Booking.com, and any calendar with an iCal link. Your guest’s name, check-in date, and check-out date will sync automatically.
6
Customize Your Welcome Screen
Add your property name, logo or host photo, WiFi network name and password, check-out time, and any custom message. You can also add a background image, a YouTube video link for ambient content, and a QR code linking to your house rules, local recommendations, or direct booking page.
7
Set the Firestick to Auto-Launch on TV Power On
Go to Firestick Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Hello Guest Screen, and enable Launch on Startup. Alternatively, go to your TV settings and set the default HDMI input to the port where your Firestick is plugged in. When your guest turns on the TV, the Hello Guest Screen appears automatically.
LG TV Tip
One-time setup note for LG TVs: Go to TV Settings and change the default startup input to the HDMI port where your Firestick is connected. This ensures the welcome screen appears every time the TV is turned on — not the LG home screen. This is a one-time setting that takes about 30 seconds.
What Hello Guest Screen Shows on Your Firestick TV
When your guest turns on the TV, they see a personalized full-screen welcome display. Here is everything the screen can show — all included in the standard plan.
★ Guest Name Display
Pull the guest’s first name from your booking calendar and display it automatically. Updates with every new reservation — no manual changes.
★ WiFi Name and Password
Shows your WiFi network name and password prominently on screen. Guests no longer need to search for a welcome book or ask the host.
★ Check-Out Time
Displays the exact check-out time for the current reservation. Reduces late check-outs significantly.
★ Weather Display
Shows current weather and a 5-day forecast for your property’s location so guests can plan their stay.
★ QR Code
A scannable QR code linking to your house rules, local restaurant recommendations, direct booking page, upsells, or any URL you choose.
★ Custom Logo or Host Photo
Display your property logo or a smiling host photo to build trust and encourage direct bookings.
★ Custom Background Image
Set any image as the screen background to match your property aesthetic — beach, mountains, city, minimalist.
★ Video or Ambient Music
Paste a YouTube link to play a property tour video, ambient fireplace video, or background music as the screen wallpaper.
★ Personalized Message
Write a custom welcome message that appears every check-in — Thank you for staying with us or Welcome to the Blue Ridge Cabin.
★ House Rules
Display your key house rules directly on the welcome screen so guests see them immediately on arrival.
Calendar Integration
Fully Automatic — Set It Up Once
Hello Guest Screen connects to your booking calendar so everything updates automatically when a new guest checks in. You set it up once and the screen takes care of itself. Frequently Asked Questions — Hello Guest Screen on Firestick
These are the questions Airbnb hosts most commonly ask before setting up Hello Guest Screen on their Firestick.
Yes. Hello Guest Screen is fully compatible with all Amazon Fire TV Stick models including Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Stick 3rd Generation, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and Fire TV Cube. Simply install the Hello Guest Screen app from the Amazon App Store, sign in to your account, and connect your booking calendar. The welcome screen will display automatically whenever your guest turns on the TV.
Yes. Once you set Hello Guest Screen as the default launch app on your Firestick, the welcome screen appears every time the TV is powered on. For TVs where the Firestick is connected via HDMI, you can also set the TV to default to that HDMI input on startup. After a one-time setup in your TV and Firestick settings, guests see the screen without any action from you.
Yes. The Firestick works on any TV with an HDMI port regardless of the TV brand. This makes it ideal for properties with older TVs or non-smart TVs. For LG TVs specifically, go to your TV settings after setup and change the default startup input to the HDMI port your Firestick is connected to. This ensures the welcome screen is the first thing guests see — not the LG home screen.
Yes. Hello Guest Screen pulls guest information directly from your connected booking calendar. When one guest checks out and the next checks in, the screen updates automatically with the new guest name, check-in date, check-out date, and any other reservation details you have set up. You do not need to manually update anything between bookings.
Hello Guest Screen costs $14.99 per screen per month. This includes all features — guest name, WiFi display, weather, QR code, logo, video background, and automatic calendar sync. There are no setup fees and no contracts. You can cancel at any time. If you have multiple properties each with a Firestick, each screen is billed at the same $14.99 per month rate.
Yes. Your Hello Guest Screen account supports multiple screens. Each Firestick at each property is managed from the same dashboard. You can customize the welcome screen for each property separately — different backgrounds, different WiFi passwords, different checkout times — all from one login. Volume pricing is available for property managers with five or more screens.
No technical knowledge is required. The setup process takes under 10 minutes. You install the app from the Amazon App Store, sign in to your Hello Guest Screen account, paste in your booking calendar link, and customize your screen. Hello Guest Screen also offers a free setup call where a team member will walk you through the entire process on a screen share.
Yes. Hello Guest Screen supports video backgrounds via YouTube links. You can paste a YouTube link to any ambient video — a fireplace, ocean waves, a property tour, or background music — and it will play as the background of your welcome screen while the guest information remains visible on top. This feature is included in the standard $14.99 per month plan.
