What You Need Before You Start

Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Step 1 – Plug in the Firestick
Insert the Firestick into an available HDMI port on your TV. Use the HDMI extender cable (included in the Firestick box) if the Firestick does not sit comfortably flat against the TV. Plug the Firestick power cable into a nearby outlet or directly into the TV’s USB port if it provides enough power. Switch the TV input to the HDMI source where the Firestick is connected.
Step 2 – Connect the Firestick to WiFi
Turn on the Firestick and connect it to your property’s WiFi network. Use the host WiFi – not the guest network – for the Firestick setup. The device needs a reliable internet connection to pull guest data from your booking calendar automatically.
Step 3 – Install Hello Guest Screen
From the Firestick home screen, select the search icon and type Hello Guest Screen. You can also say Hello Guest Screen into the Alexa voice remote. Find the Hello Guest Screen app in the results and click Download. The app installs in under 2 minutes.
Step 4 – Sign In to Your Account
Open Hello Guest Screen on the Firestick. Sign in with the email and password from your account at helloguestscreen.com. If you do not have an account, create one free – no credit card required for the 14-day trial.
Step 5 – Connect Your Booking Calendar
In your Hello Guest Screen dashboard (accessible at helloguestscreen.com on any device), go to Settings, then Integrations. Select your booking platform and connect it. For Airbnb: copy the iCal URL from your Airbnb listing’s Calendar settings and paste it in. For Guesty, OwnerRez, or Hostfully: follow the API authorization steps. Once connected, your upcoming guest’s name and reservation dates will appear in the preview.
Step 6 – Customize the Welcome Screen
In your dashboard, set your property name, WiFi network name and password, standard checkout time, welcome message, logo or host photo, and background image. Optionally paste a YouTube video link for an ambient background and a URL for the QR code destination (your direct booking page, house rules, or local guide). Save your settings. Step 7 – Enable Auto-Launch
On the Firestick, go to Settings, then Applications, then Manage Installed Applications, then Hello Guest Screen, and enable Launch on Startup. This ensures the welcome screen appears automatically every time your guest turns on the TV. If your TV is an LG, also go to the TV’s settings and change the default startup HDMI input to the port where your Firestick is connected.

Troubleshooting Common Issues
Firestick not connecting to WiFi: Restart the Firestick and try again. Make sure you are using the 5GHz band if your router broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz – the Firestick performs better on 5GHz.
Hello Guest Screen not launching on startup: Go back to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Hello Guest Screen and confirm Launch on Startup is enabled. If the TV shows the LG or Samsung home screen instead of the Firestick, change the TV’s default startup input in the TV settings.
Guest name not showing: Check that the iCal link is correctly connected in your Hello Guest Screen dashboard. If using Airbnb iCal, some Airbnb account types do not include guest names in the iCal export – use a PMS integration for guaranteed name display.
Screen not auto-launching on every TV power cycle: On some older TVs, the Firestick needs the HDMI-CEC setting enabled. Go to TV Settings and look for HDMI-CEC, Anynet+ (Samsung), or SimpLink (LG) and enable it.
